HEJIRA HEALTHCARE was founded in 2006 by Dr. Leigh Roberts, MD with the vision of creating a Medical Practice that treats every patient with dignity and first-rate care. HEJIRA has been designed to offer each person a more relaxed and calming experience. From the original art on the walls, to the hot tea service, to the spa robes - HEJIRA is a different kind of medical experience. The staff at HEJIRA are highly trained and exceptionally friendly. Leigh H. Roberts, MD
Dr. Leigh Roberts, MD earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Natural Sciences from Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts in 1987. Dr. Leigh Roberts completed her Medical Degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in 1992. After completing two years of General Surgery Residency at Bay State Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, Dr. Leigh Roberts redirected her residency specialty to Family Medicine which she completed in 1997 at the University of Illinois - Ravenswood Hospital.
Dr. Leigh Roberts is an active physician preceptor for Medical and Nursing students, has held numerous Principal investigator roles for a variety of drug and treatment studies, has appeared in both local and national news, and has been a reoccurring Medical Expert on local radio.
Dr. Leigh Roberts is Board Certified in Family Medicine.
Amy Gregory, MS, FNP-C
HEJIRA HEALTHCARE is pleased to welcome Ms. Gregory to the team. Amy earned a Master of Science Degree in Nursing in 2006 from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. While working as a Registered Nurse at a local Health Center for three years, Amy pursued her Nurse Practitioner Degree at DePaul University and graduated in 2009.
Amy completed numerous Clinical Rotations in Family Medicine studying under some of Chicago's finest Physicians and Nurse Practitioners. Many of you may already know Amy, as one of her Clinical Rotations was at HEJIRA HEALTHCARE studying under Dr. Roberts.
Amy is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the National Honor Society of Nursing, and was awarded a Windy City Times' "Top 30 Under 30" award in 2008 for her work as a Nurse in Chicago.
Amy is Nationally Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
Daisy MartinezMs. Martinez is a Certified Medical Office Assistant and a Certified Phlebotomist. Daisy has been working alongside Dr. Roberts since 2004 and shares the vision of HEJIRA HEALTHCARE. Daisy joined Dr. Leigh Roberts in 2006 as they opened the doors to HEJIRA HEALTHCARE together.
Daisy is an active Board Member at the Illinois Health Center College and a teaching preceptor for Medical Office Assistant Certification. Daisy is bilingual (English/Spanish).
Daisy is the proud mother of two and loves to salsa.
